OpHelp Rules

  • No Idling in #OpHelp at any time, Idle helpers are of no help to anyone if you are going to be away part the channel.
  • No away nicks
  • Helpers should use one nick only to help with
  • Be curteous at all times to people who come in for
  • help, no swearing or being rude or crude to others.
  • Do not openly correct another helper if they have given a wrong answer politely notice them with the correct answer. bringing other helpers down to look foolish in front of chatters is not professional or smart.
  • Helpers are free to chat in ophelp as long as noone is waiting to get help, as soon as someone comes for help the chat should cease until that person has had the help they need.
  • If a chatter comes in and asks for a zline to be removed do not ask that chatter to reveal their ip to you , ircops are always in ophelp, tell them to leave a msg in private or send a memo to the ircop with their true ip (not masked)and the ircop will deal with it as soon as possible.
  • No help on anything that violates IRCQnet TOS, e.g. how to annoy, takeover, flood, clone, collide, spoof, etc.
  • No help on anything illegal, e.g. how to do denial of service attacks, illegal file trading etc.
  • Give help publicly on the channel, since the help may apply to other users, and so that we may monitor who is getting help and if that help is accurate.
  • If you dont know the answer to a question dont try to answer,as much as you''re intentions may be good no answer is better than a wrong answer. Leave it to someone who does know. If there is noone to answer ask the chatter to call back later.
  • Do not fight and argue with abusive chatters when they come in ,you are there to help, not to make the situation worse. It does not look professional a helper arguing with other chatters or with each other.
It should be noted that the only exception to the idling rule is IRCops, Half/Full/Aop/Botops may not idle in #Ophelp and must not use an away nick while within the channel. Helpers are granted upto 25 minutes idle before they will be asked to part, if no response is given they may forceablly be removed.
