Changes
Some of you may have noticed over the past few days we have made some extensive changes to the entire system, we have dropped the forums all together in favour for comments as this seems to be the better way for users to offer there input on specific subject matters. We also are now accepting input from anyone who wishes to give it.

You can now submit Documents/FAQ entries of News to the site, however it must and should be noted that any content submitted must be written correctly and be as informative as possible - these are some guidelines on submitting documents within the submission page. We have also dropped the community site this simply did not get the attention from the userbase so it was removed as per what we started in our last news post.

Along with the content and registration changes we have adopted a new look to the site which should be more functional and cleaner for everyone. We often get asked about donations, you will notice at the top of the screen there is now a pull down donation panel, if you would like to donate to the site you can do this from there.

We still have some changed to make to make things a little easier and give you a touch more input such as FAQ migration to a new system, watch for that in the next coming days.

A user recently asked why we have banners in the footer - basicaly this boils
down to paid advertising - we offer banner advertising on this site ( no porn,
hacking, adult sites ) for a set fee of $5 per banner per month.
X-Ception  - Webforms   |2008-02-29 03:26:37
The webforms will be returning soon, we have been looking for a secure
functional option that also has a good validation and custom contact function,
as yet not found one but still looking.

for now you can contact the IRCops in
#ophelp or leave myself a message for anything else

Hi Kelly,
Having a few issues on getting the form done quickly,
if your 100% sure your channel meets all the requirements
( see them here ) then send me a memo with the channel and il place it under
review.
someone  - what's the deal?   |2008-04-25 20:29:30
It has come to my attention that nick hijacking is quite the problem on this
network. How does one go about reclaiming their nick when it has been stolen and
re-registered by the thief?

And why can't any ircops be found? Why is /stats
p disabled so people can't find them?

What good are they if you can't find
one when you need one? Kinda pointless to even have any isn't it?

Just
another perfect example of how poorly things are run here :/

Tell me how to
contact an ircop (one that's online on the network - I don't want no stupid
e-mail address)
and tell me how to advise my friends to go about reporting
their nick stolen and getting it back. Protect and help your users....
ReBBie  - Re: what's the deal?   |2008-04-26 14:18:54
Hello someone,

IRCops can always be found in IrCQ-Net's helpchannel #ophelp,
there will always be one or more present there (active or away). When active
we'll try to help users as good and fast as we can, when away Chanops and/or
Ophelpers in that channel will advise users on how to contact (one of) the
IRCops if they really need one.

Users can join #ophelp for help when they have
IRC questions and/or problems, the name of the help channel is in every topic of
ICQ run channels.

If your friends get their nick stolen they can join #ophelp
and ask for help there.

Note: Every nick that's not registered is free to be
registered by someone else. If the nickname was taken by someone else and it was
not registered it is not "stolen".
lilGTO  - Thanks for the changes   |2008-05-01 20:38:26
I just wanted to thank X-Ception for the great work done on the ChanOps web
page. Very nice, informative, and easy to get around in. It's nice to see no
broken links in a web site. Also to fake for the Helper AddOn, man this is
great. Keep up the good work and keep us alive.
Angelus   |2008-12-09 15:26:12
thanks X-Ception seems intersiting
it's cool to have those changes ..

Marija   |2009-07-21 14:40:37
Have a question about #icq_europeeast.

We need an op who can
understand
serbo-cr oatian. We always have to translate some ... and there s a
lot of
maniacs and nazis.

Can we finaly get an op who can understand
Arthur Lamigo  - cyber-bullying-related-suicides   |2009-08-29 09:31:20
Suicide deaths due to cyber bullying has been in the news in Australia.
I hope
IrCQnet has taken a second look at this issue to re-inforce measures to censure
cyber thugs.
Although, to monitor and sanction all acts of harassment seems
impossible, the server has the obligation to do its best in any way possible.

Even an around-the-clock Op/s presence in every chatroom could make a difference
for that matter.
Cheers!
Desolator   |2009-09-05 20:17:47
Sadly, this issue has nothing to do with the network as the TOS states its the
users responality if they use the network.

ICQ accept no responablity for
anything on the network but reserve the right to terminate any connection for
any reason at any time.

While the chanops and IRCOPS will try and stop such
issues, they are not obliged and in personal conversations (notices and pvts) or
private messages they have no power at all, only to advise using ignore and even
disconnect from the network.
paul  - z-lined   |2009-09-29 05:08:11
Hi, I was z-lined from ircq net today. The reason was (harrasing other chatters
by continually ghosting loads of nicks)
I have no idea what ghosting is or
how to do it. In fact, my nick was idling there while i was asleep in bed. The
next morning I was banned.
I was wrongfully z-lined. Will this expire or can
it be fixed?

My nick is 'boat' if that helps..
libra   |2009-09-11 21:13:10
well email me on libra@chanops.or g pls and gimme a list of the nicks you
use because I am not convinced yur not the one ghosting loads of innocent
chatters continually
Arthur Lamigo  - annoying 'echo' script codes   |2009-09-22 09:58:00
Hiya!!

I'm just wondering if IrCQNet staff involve in scripting could
develop a 'remote' channel protection for the ChanBots to stop that annoying
(and lame)script that echoes the target user/s every message in a channel.

Cheers!
libra   |2009-09-22 11:45:02
hi,
not sure what annoying script codes you are talking about, but we do
not have anything to do with the coding in the icq bots those belong to
ICQ

Arthur Lamigo   |2009-09-22 21:45:25
Hi!

I was referring to chatters using scripts that repeats everything a
target user types in the channel.
Solitary_Scar   |2009-09-23 09:18:24
Yes, those 'echo', 'mimic' or 'copycat' scripts are most certainly annoying.
Like libra explained, we can`t do much on the channel bot coding, as it belongs
to ICQ. However you can surely report it by joining #ophelp. An available
ChanOp/BotOp will be assigned asap.

how much time does it take to clear the ban

fake   |2009-10-25 15:19:02
First of all try to get your real IP address ( http://www.whatsm... ). Then send an email to ircops[at]chanops.or g requesting
to remove this Z-Line (provided with the IP address) ,
or join #OpHelp and try to speak with an active IRCop.

Andy Yarbrough   |2009-11-11 23:22:20
Ok, after repeatedly asking why I received a 2 week z-line, even going so far as
to email libra ( who had no idea what was going on). I suspect xom[A]s is a tad
over-zealous. Either that, or Dad4F parking in a trivia channel owned by the
IRCOp has garnered him favoritism. Facing this daunting task, I am left with no
other course of action but to seek remedy through AOL and their officers.
Contrary to belief, ICQ IRC is on AOL servers, so no matter how high you are at
ICQ, you will answer to someone there, as you have given me 2 weeks of free time
, I will use it to message every single VP at AOL until I get the one that runs
the IRC servers.
Have a nice day
libra   |2009-11-13 10:09:15
Either that, or Dad4F parking in a trivia channel owned by the
IRCOp has
garnered him favoritism. I was the one who zlined him for 2 weeks so i hardly
call that favouritsm ....
Andy Yarbrough   |2009-11-12 00:09:47
Feel free to email me when you have lifted my ban.

Andy Yarbrough   |2009-11-12 03:46:58
Libs,
Ya know what? Nevermind. Just forget it. I joined these servers in
September of 1999. In #icq4, #icq5 and #30_something. In the 10 years since, I
have seen many changes and many great people come and go. I am an adult and do
not claim to be a saint and, on occasion have been warned and even kicked for
language, but never harassment, until today. In 10 years, not once. Long time
users have been chat friends and great and good friends to me, seeing me through
serious and fun times alike. It is very saddening to think that after such a
long and enjoyable time here, nothing good has come of it.
Instead, a person
who has been repeatedly banned for harassment, just this year, can begin a
campaign of sniping remarks, cut and paste harassment of privates and logs, fake
mp3 notices and privating chatters with "warnings" about not only me,
but friends as well and not only succeed in having me z-lined, but for a 2 week<...
landa   |2009-11-12 21:21:53
so,what I wanna know is, is anything going to happen about that z:line
already?
I, and with me several others very much disagree with it,emails have
been sent, ppl have been trying to contact ops about it.. still there's nothing
done.
meanwhile Dad4F happily continues to stink up that room with his
presence,just lovely
duklaa  - unable to connect with IRC client   |2010-02-16 13:10:22
Has something changed with irq irc servers? I am not able to connect with any
irc client for more than a week
Sandie   |2010-02-16 15:13:43
IM sure theres something different, was in IRC ICQ earlier today, explained my
problems with being Z Lined over and over in the ophelp room, left off line
messages with the Ircops there, only to be Z lined about 20 mins later for
spam/advertising. All was ok before Christmas, now its a nightmare, and ive got
nowhere with any answers to my problems. I cant connect now, I keep getting
'connection timed out' messages, mixed in with 'closing link - spam
advertising'. Its ok for someone in the ophelp room to say it looks like Ive got
caught up in something, but thats not much help for me.
duklaa   |2010-02-16 15:18:00
I am not z-lined. And I am not able to connect. I have tried several machines
and I have also tried asking several friends to connect...none of them was able
to connect. There is just a "connection refused" message on port 6667
and "connected" message on port 7012 (but nothing further happens and
after a bit of time there is a disconnection).
libra   |2010-02-17 08:29:52
duklaa port 6667 is closed just for a short time but you really shouldnt have
problems connecting from 7012 for webchat.I will report this today to the admins
.
libra   |2010-02-17 08:27:31
speak to ghettoqueen coz i did explain to her what is banning you
