NickServ

NickServ protects your nickname. Register it once with a password; after that only you can use it, and channels can give you access by name. Talk to it with /msg NickServ ….

Use your own password — the examples show the format only. Never type your password in a channel.

/msg ChanServ OP #chan — type the black part exactly; replace the orange part with your own channel, nickname or text.

All NickServ commands (38)

Every command starts with /msg NickServ. Staff-only commands are left out. The network can turn some commands off — /msg NickServ HELP shows exactly what is on.

Account

/msg NickServ …	What it does
`REGISTER password email`	Register your current nickname.
`CONFIRM REGISTER code`	Confirm registration with the emailed code.
`RESEND`	Send the confirmation email again.
`IDENTIFY password`	Log in (ID works too).
`LOGOUT`	Log out.
`INFO nick`	Show information about a nickname.
`DROP nick`	Delete a nickname. NickServ answers with a code.
`DROP nick code`	Confirm deleting with that code.
`UPDATE`	Refresh your status (vhost, channel status, memos).

/msg NickServ …	What it does
`RECOVER nick password`	Get your nick back from someone using it (GHOST and RELEASE work too).
`GROUP nick password`	Add your current nick to another nick's account.
`UNGROUP nick`	Remove a nick from your account.
`GLIST`	List the nicks in your account.
`ALIST`	List channels where you have access.
`AJOIN ADD #chan`	Join a channel automatically when you log in.
`AJOIN DEL #chan`	Remove an auto-join.
`AJOIN LIST`	Show auto-joins.
`CERT ADD`	Log in automatically with your TLS client certificate.
`CERT LIST`	Show your certificate fingerprints.
`CERT DEL fingerprint`	Remove a fingerprint.
`RESETPASS nick email`	Forgot your password? Get a reset email.
`CONFIRM RESETPASS code`	Confirm the reset with the emailed code.

`SET PASSWORD newpassword`	Change your password.
`SET EMAIL email`	Change your email address.
`CONFIRM EMAIL code`	Confirm the new email address.
`SET DISPLAY nick`	Which nick in your account is shown in lists.
`SET AUTOOP OFF`	Stop services giving you status automatically.
`SET NEVEROP ON`	Nobody can add you to channel access lists.
`SET PROTECT ON`	Force someone else off your nick if they don't log in.
`SET HIDE EMAIL ON`	Hide your email in INFO (also STATUS, MASK, QUIT).
`SET PRIVATE ON`	Hide your nick from NickServ LIST.
`SET GREET message`	Greeting shown when you join channels with GREET on.
`SET AUTOLOGIN ON`	Log in automatically with your certificate.
`SET KEEPMODES ON`	Keep your user modes between connections.
`SET LANGUAGE language`	Language for services messages.
`SET TIMEZONE timezone`	Time zone for services messages.
`SET LAYOUT FLEXIBLE`	How services lay out long replies (FIXED, FLEXIBLE or MONOSPACE).
